Dhaka, January 21, 2008 -
900 Associates from Novartis (Bangladesh) limited, gathered
at the Bangladesh China Friendship Conference Center for
Town Hall Meeting, January 2008.
The meeting gave management the opportunity to reflect on
the business performance in 2008 and share the objectives
for 2008. BU Heads, Divisional Heads and the Managing
Director, shared their enthusiasm for 2008, the
opportunities to be successfully captured and failures from
2007 that had to be avoided.
Novartis (Bangladesh) Limited, in 2007 has attained growth
above the market trend in 2007 and was one of the few
Pharmaceutical companies in Bangladesh that posted positive
growth in 2007 despite all the unrest and uncertainty in the
Bangladesh market. The Managing Director informed Associates
that their efforts and hard work that led to the positive
double digit growth was highly appreciated specially in the
face of the average negative market growth.
Other topics like Pandemic Preparedness and Diversity and
Inclusion were also discussed and the directives and
objectives for 2008 were addresses. The agenda also had
place for Dipti, an internal program that was introduced to
reward those who display excellent adherence to the Novartis
Values and Behaviors in their daily conduct. This was
followed by a feedback session where Associates directly
addressed the top management with their issues and opinion,
and these were then answered by the concerned persons.
The next part of the day's program was the highlight of the
program, the
Novartis Debate Competition.
This was a Diversity and Inclusion Team run program that was
initiated with the objective to increase the open
communications in Novartis (Bangladesh) Limited. It was also
a great opportunity for our Associates to express their
opinion and competencies in a wider arena. This
significantly increased their confidence and familiarity
with various other functions, Associates from various
locations and Associates in various positions in the
organization. Noteworthy was that we had amongst us 3 most
prominent individuals as judges, Dr. Ferhat Anwar, a leading
academician from the number one Business Administration
institution in the country, Mr. Asaduzzaman Noor, a famous
and household name from the field of theatre and drama and
the Head of Animal Health BU, Mr. Tauheed Hossain.
