Dhaka, January 21, 2008 -
Novartis Bangladesh Debate Competition comes to a successful
end.
Six debaters from two teams came together in front of more
than 900 Associates to debate about "Cable Television should
be censored for the betterment of the society", a prominent
topic of conversation amongst the general population in the
Bangladesh society today.
The idea of the debate
competition originated towards early September 2007, when
the Diversity and Inclusion Team proposed to organize a
programme for Sales and Distribution colleagues, because
normally they do not get the opportunities to showcase their
aptitudes.
84 candidates were
nominated in the preliminary round, where Associates from
all over Bangladesh debated on selected topics. For the
secondary round, the participants were screened and 24
Associates were selected from whom the last 6 participant
were screened and selected after a third round.T he intense
interaction, research and grooming improved the internal
thinking capacity of these sales colleagues and created
champions of Diversity and Inclusion within the Company.
The judges of the event
were from the fields of academics and media, Dr. Ferhat
Anwar and Asaduzzaman Noor. Both are leading experts on
society, culture and media. Along with the external judges
was also Mr. Tauheen Hossain, the Head of Animal Health
Business Unit as the third judge of the competition.
The outcomes of the day
mainly were team building, making others think from a
different perspective and also entertainment.
